Paro

Pakistani comfort food, made for sharing

South Asian Comfort, Pantry Ready

Paro is a love letter to Pakistani home cooking and the meals that gather people around lentils, rice, spice, and conversation. Named for founder Umaimah Sharwani’s mother, the brand began with family recipes for daal, kitchari, and tarka, then extended that same flavor memory into lentil chips. It makes deeply layered South Asian food easier without detaching it from the people and stories behind it.

Umaimah Packs Her Mother’s Recipes

When Umaimah left home for college and later built a career in New York, her mother sent zip-top bags filled with pre-measured lentils and spices. With water and half an hour, they became the comfort food she missed. Umaimah later made similar mixes for friends and parties, realizing that Pakistani flavor could be both personal and practical. Paro packages that gesture of care for a wider table.

Lentils First, Flavor Engineered

Paro keeps lentils at the center of its products, from quick-cooking daal and kitchari to crisp snacks made with lentil flour. The chips are cooked in avocado oil and seasoned with blends reverse-engineered from specific South Asian food memories, including barbecue tikka. The approach delivers plant-based protein and layered spice in a format built for everyday, on-the-go eating.
