Origins

The brand Pisqueya, pronounced "pees-keh-yah," takes its name from the Taíno word for the island of Hispaniola, reflecting its roots in Dominican culture and history. Founder Maritza Abreu's parents emigrated from the Dominican Republic and opened a Brooklyn restaurant whose flavors defined her childhood and eventually became the foundation for the sauce.
